Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Since I was a little girl, my family and I have traveled to Galena, IL and rented a house over the holiday-- the main objective, of course, was to eat, drink and be merry. Because of our extended European vacation in October and my sister's study abroad program this semester, we are staying in Chicago for Thanksgiving and splitting the time between both my family and Dan's. In addition to over-seeing a few apartment upgrades this morning, I'll be cooking my great-grandmother's stuffing recipe and baking a double batch of my "famous" pumpkin bread.  I hope you have a fantastic holiday spent with family and friends!

While we were on vacation, Dan and I celebrated our five year anniversary together. It seems strange that it's been five years since we've been "officially" dating (and three years since we've moved in together...what?!), but I honestly can't remember what it was like to NOT talk to him. We met about 12 years ago and nothing has been the same since. Our living together Q&A post did so well that I figured I'd do another to mark our five-year anniversary. We each answered the following questions separately:

It's been a while since I have posted anything on Paytington, let alone an "on-trend" round-up! We've been back from the Mediterranean for about a week now and have finally caught up with sleep/jet lag and gotten over brutal sinus infections. Even though the descent into Chicago was a bit painful, I'd do it again in an instant to walk around ancient ruins and gorgeous islands peppered with delicious food and drink. There will be a re-cap post coming soon but you can get a sneak peek of everything we saw on Instagram. In addition to eating my way around Rome, I was able to sit outside and people watch (read: fall in love with Italian womens' wardrobes) for three days and came away with a wish-list about a mile long; first on that list...a flattering sweater dress.  The takeaway: sweater dress outfit combinations are seemingly endless while the overall effect looks comfortable and chic without being pretentious.

I will never forget the day I bought this Reiss leather skirt; it's one of my favorite clothing items and every time I wear it, I think of our last trip to the United Kingdom. My parents and I were in Liverpool at the infamous Cavern Club and, after a 9am pint (or two), going to Reiss seemed like the best idea we'd had all week. Though it's been more than 4 years since I tried it on, it still fits perfectly and looks brand new. A couple weeks ago, Ashley and I ventured to the west side of Chicago and she snapped a few photos of me in my go-to business attire: my caramel-colored, Reiss leather skirt, a white blouse and a tailored black blazer. Though I typically wear the leather skirt with classic black and white, I am looking forward to mixing up my colors this season and taking advantage of this skirt's versatility.
